Cookie Policy

This page explains exactly what Pickbox stores in your browser and why.

Strictly necessary

These are required for basic site function. They cannot be disabled.

NameTypeDurationPurpose
tt_cookie_consentlocalStoragePermanentSaves your cookie preferences so you're not asked every visit
pickbox:recent-toolslocalStoragePermanentStores the last 5 tools you visited, used to populate the quick-access list in the command palette
vote_{post-slug}localStoragePermanentRemembers whether you've liked or disliked a blog post so you don't vote twice. No personal data — it's just "up", "down", or absent
Tool session datasessionStorageUntil tab closesSaves your current work inside each tool (the JSON you're formatting, the regex you're testing, etc.) so it survives a page refresh. Cleared automatically when you close the tab
auth_tokenCookie (HTTP)7 daysJWT session token for the admin panel. Only set if you log in to the admin panel. Regular visitors never receive this cookie

Analytics (can be disabled)

NameTypeDurationPurpose
Umami scriptNo cookie setSessionCounts page views and referrers for aggregate traffic stats. Umami is cookieless — it does not set any cookie in your browser and does not track you across sites or sessions

Umami Analytics is loaded on all public pages regardless of cookie preference because it does not use cookies or collect personal data. If you prefer not to be counted at all, a browser-level ad blocker will prevent the script from loading.

Advertising (requires your consent)

NameTypeDurationPurpose
Google AdSense cookiesCookieVariesUsed by Google to serve and personalise ads. Only loaded after you give advertising consent. Google's full cookie list is available in their privacy policy

AdSense is not loaded until you explicitly allow advertising cookies. You can change this at any time.

Managing your preferences

  • Cookie banner — click "Cookie settings" in the footer to update your choices at any time
  • Browser settings — you can block or delete cookies entirely in your browser settings; the developer tools will continue to work because they don't depend on any cookies
  • Ad blockers — will block both AdSense and Umami regardless of your consent settings

What we don't use

  • Tracking pixels
  • Third-party analytics cookies (no Google Analytics, no Meta Pixel, no Hotjar)
  • Session replay tools
  • Cross-site tracking of any kind
